Iran plans to launch humans into outer space

15:37 21 August 2008 New Scientist Space and Reuters Iran plans to send a crude rocket into space in the next 10 years, state television said on Thursday, just days after the Islamic Republic announced it had put a dummy satellite into orbit. "One of the aims of Iran's 10-year space programme is to send a manned rocket into space," state television quoted Reza Taghipour, the head of Iran More.. 's aerospace organisation, as saying. "Within the next six months to one year, the exact date of this mission will be determined." Taghipour said Iran would cooperate with Islamic countries in building a satellite that the television report said would be called "Besharat", meaning "good news". He also said Iran was working with Russia and other Asian states to launch another satellite. Only three other nations have launched humans into space - Russia, the US and China. Embroiled in a standoff with the West over its nuclear ambitions, Iran said on Sunday it had put a dummy satellite into orbit on a home-grown rocket for the first time. US security officials said the launcher failed shortly after lift-off and did not reach its intended position. But Charles Vick, a senior analyst for the GlobalSecurity.org research group, said Iran appeared to have succeeded in igniting the second stage of its booster rocket and gained data that will help it perfect its launch system. The long-range ballistic technology used to put satellites into space can also be used for launching weapons. Iran says it has no such intention. The West accuses Iran of seeking to build a nuclear warhead, a charge Tehran denies, insisting its nuclear ambitions are aimed at generating electricity so it that it can export more of its massive oil and gas reserves. Headed by producer/writer Harry Sona, Sona Family consists of rapper/singer/producer Mr Riz, female singer/rapper Kazz & DJ/producer JC. Sona in the Indian language of Hindi means gold. Gold is the foundation of economies and is something of high value. Family is a slant on the hip hop idea of a crew, squad or clique but also relates to the Asian idea of the family as your foundation. So basically Sona Family is a unit of like minded individuals making music of high value with a strong foundation to spring board off as solo artist as well. Music is life for Sona Family, if you ever get the chance to check out their individual music collections you will have almost every genre catered for. Hip hop and Rnb is the crews foundation but don't get it twisted because each member has there own personal influences from rock to soul to electronica to Bollywood which is why the new album Make Some Noise/Taali Bajow has a truly different sound to any other artist out at present. 2006 is the year that Sona Family exploded internationally with their hit song "Glassy" taking over desi clubland the world over. After this they released the hyphy/crunk infused club banger Chak De featuring top us DJ Sharad, which received a lot of love with the European and US desis and continues to build. Then as a follow up for Glassy the crew released another upbeat fun club track "More Glassy" which was released this summer on the Asian Flavas compilation in India. As well as this the crew have toured extensively across the world doing dates in Germany, India, Dubai and the USA. In September they featured as one of the headline crowd drawing acts at the Dubai Rain Festival 2006 alongside Himesh Reshmiya, performing to 15 000 people and sending fans into a frenzy. In the USA this November Sona Family were invited to perform at Bollywood Music Awards at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City where they won Best Dance Video for "Glassy". Besides touring and doing these one off tracks, Sona Family has also spent the year recording their hot debut album "Make Some Noise/Taali Bajow" which is full to the brim with hit after hit including the first single Taali. Expect to hear hip hop club bangers next to smoothed out RnB crossed with some Dancehall beats, Arabic melodies and Rock guitars. Løvland approached Irish novelist and songwriter Brendan Graham to write the lyrics to his melody after reading Graham's novels[2]. It was originally released on the 2002 Secret Garden album "Once in a Red Moon", with the vocals sung by Irish singer Brian Kennedy, and sold well in both Ireland and Norway. The song was used for commemorations of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks despite not having been released in America yet. Originally, Brian Kennedy was supposed to follow Secret Garden on their Asian tour in 2002, but fell ill, and could not attend. He was replaced by Norwegian singer Jan Werner Danielsen, who also later recorded the song together with Secret Garden, but it was never released. The song was subsequently recorded by Daniel O'Donnell in 2003 and was a hit throughout Ireland and the UK. Later in 2003, David Foster decided to produce the song. He chose the up and coming Josh Groban to record the song, which proved very popular in the US. His version made it to the top of the Billboard adult contemporary chart and remained there for six weeks. Groban also performed it at Super Bowl XXXVIII, in a special NASA commemoration for the crew of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. The band's version is the #99 Best selling single in the UK for the 21st Century to date, having reached #1 on the chart in 2005. The band also won UK Record of the Year award for their rendition. There were two music video versions accompanying their rendition of the song. Westlife, together with original composer Secret Garden, performed the song at the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize concert. The band was the 100th artist to record this song. In 2004, the song was played more than 500,000 times on American radio. In late 2005, there were over 80 versions available in USA alone, and it has become nominated for Gospel Music Awards four times, including "Song of the Year". This version by Christian group Selah (with both verses included, as originally written) also went to No. 1 on Billboard's Christian Charts.
